Handbuilt - 5 week course
Come and explore your creativity in this 5-week ceramic hand-building course. Together we will explore a series of hand-building techniques before each participant is invited to design and work on their own individual project.
Whether your interest lies in beautifully curated flatware to entertain your guests, interesting vessels, or a series of ornamental pieces to decorate your home, you are only limited by your own creativity. With an experienced ceramicist on hand each week to guide you through the execution of your idea, we will spend 4 weeks exploring the making process before coming together on week 5 to decorate your pieces using slips, underglazes, and finishing techniques before the firing process.
Using a series of techniques and skills easily transferrable to your home practice, at the completion of this short course, you will feel confident to continue creating in your home environment or self-guided use of the Hand + Wheel studio.
Your work will be clear glazed and fired, available for you to collect 4-6 weeks later.
Not a local?.. Not a worry. For a small fee I am happy to pack and ship your work to you.
Hand built will run over 5 weeks meeting each Tuesday evening from 5pm - 7pm. Upcoming dates are outlined below, so take a peek and secure your spot.
September - 5th, 12th, 19st, 26th and October 3rd
*All clay and glaze materials are included in the cost of your course. As the size and shape of finished pieces will vary from student to student, firings will be charged at an additional $10/kilo per firing. Each piece will be fired twice in a biscuit and glaze firing.
Should you need to raincheck, reschedule or cancel your workshop/course for any reason, let me know as soon as possible. I understand life can be crazy, so I will always do my best to offer a 100% refund, if we can fill your spot. Unfortunately, if your spot cannot be filled and you cancel within the following time periods, the following fees will be incurred;
Cancellations within 1 week will incur a 50% cancellation fee.
Cancellations within 24hrs will incur a 100% cancellation fee.
Finished work will be fired and glazed ready for you to collect, approximately 4 - 6 weeks later.
If you are visiting Evans Head and would like to participate, but won't be able to return to collect your work, for a small fee, I am more than happy to arrange shipping.
Please be mindful that ceramics is a fickle business and takes great patience, sometimes pieces will crack, kilns misfire and work occasionally comes out broken. With that said I will take every precaution to ensure your work is returned to you intact.
